Greenplay Northwest hosts our learning programs on the ancestral homelands of the Coast and Interior Salish peoples. We offer our respect and gratitude to the Puyallup, Muckleshoot, Duwamish, Spokane, Ktunaxa, and Coeur d’Alene (Schitsu’umsh) peoples, as well as the bands and nations that move through these spaces.
We humbly acknowledge their countless generations of environmental stewardship, without which our learning spaces would not exist. We honor the contributions, past and present, of our Indigenous neighbors, and we commit to understanding the impacts of colonial oppression by those who settled here.
While we cannot right the wrongs of the past, we acknowledge that all land is Indigenous land, and that all land is sacred. Our mission to connect children and families to nature cannot be realized without also developing a connection to the land and the peoples who have thrived on it since time immemorial. We honor their legacy and offer our respect and partnership in bringing our communities closer to nature.
At Osceola Art Studio and Garden School and The Mason Jar Farm School, we honor the Puyallup, Muckleshoot, and Coast Salish peoples.
At Cedar Valley Forest School, we honor the Muckleshoot, Duwamish, and Coast Salish peoples.
At Vinegar Flats Farm School, we honor the Spokane, Ktunaxa, and Schitsu’umsh (Coeur d’Alene) peoples.
