Children’s Garden Project

We are dreaming up plans to create small children’s gardens at each of our program site locations. The garden’s will support local pollinator populations, provide organically grow food for our communities, and prioritize accessibility for young children to freely interact with. The Children’s Gardens will provide perpetual opportunities to study the changing seasons, life-cycles, local wildlife, insects, native plants, composting, nutrition, herbalism, and more. Updates on the progress of these exciting projects to come!

The children and community will be invited to assist in the designing, building, planting and nurturing of the gardens.  Art installations will allow the children to take ownership and personalize the spaces.  Each garden will be unique to their location, providing an opportunity for the children within our communities to connect and share.

We believe that time in nature and outdoor play is essential to the health and well-being of all young children. The Greenplay Northwest Children’s Gardens will support our local efforts to develop and maintain beautiful, natural spaces where children are free to explore, learn and play.  When children are provided with the opportunity to develop a love for the natural world, they grow up to be adults who work to protect it.
